BASC is proud to support some of the most promising young talents in competitive shooting. Two of the athletes supported by the BASC Legacy Sponsorship, Bethany Norton and Will Canter, have been making waves on the competition stage and both have been selected to be part of the British Shooting World Class Programme.
Bethany Norton has established herself as one of the most promising Olympic Skeet shooters in the UK. Since taking up the sport in 2018, she has achieved remarkable success, earning a place on Team GB’s junior squad and clinching team gold at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Germany.
BASC’s Legacy Sponsorship Programme is helping to support her pursuit of excellence. Most recently, Bethany showcased her international prowess by winning a silver medal at the Qatar Grand Prix. Her consistency and skill on the world stage reinforce her position as a future Olympic contender.
Bethany said: “Being selected for the new LA Olympic Potential Programme is the perfect way to kick off the next Olympic cycle. I’ve just returned from my first camp with coaches Richard Brickell and Andy Austin – it was tough, full on, but fun. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Will, from Buckinghamshire, is another BASC-sponsored athlete, has proven himself to be a dominant competitor in Olympic Trap shooting. He began his journey at just 12 years old and has since represented Great Britain in competitions across Europe. In 2023, he was awarded a place on the BASC Legacy Sponsorship Programme, which has supported his international aspirations.
Will’s successes include a silver medal at the 2024 Malaga Grand Prix and he qualified for the 2024 World Championships in Peru. His precision and ability to perform under pressure mark him as a top British talent with a bright future ahead. It is testament to his talent and dedication that British Shooting have enrolled Will on their World Class Programme.
BASC’s Legacy Sponsorship Programme is dedicated to supporting talented competitive shooters. By providing financial assistance and resources to help them compete at the highest levels, the programme enables recipients to refine their skills and compete internationally with confidence. They are the Olympians of the future.
As both Will and Bethany continue their journeys in elite shooting, their achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring shooters across the UK.
With the backing of BASC and their relentless drive for success, both are well on their way to making a lasting impact in the world of competitive shooting.
