In response to the sentencing of Dorset gamekeeper Paul Allen for possession of dead buzzards, keeping of banned pesticides and failing to comply with conditions of shotgun and firearms certificates, BASC has released the following statement:
“Wildlife crime is a scourge on the shooting community which works hard to support sustainable shooting at considerable benefit to conservation, the environment and economy.
“Raptor persecution risks the very future of shooting. Those committing such offences face the full force of the law.
“BASC has a zero-tolerance stance on the illegal killing of birds of prey and we support action that roots out the minority who engage in this criminal behaviour.”
