UPDATE 4pm 27 Nov 2025: if you’re a member in England and Wales you will be receiving a new link from us to complete the HMICFRS survey – please do not share this wider. You do not need to respond to this new survey if you have already completed the initial survey.
BASC is aware that the HMICFRS firearms licensing survey website became inaccessible yesterday. By 6pm, the site had crashed and visitors were met with a message stating that the survey had closed.
We can confirm that the survey is not due to close until 5 December.
We have contacted HMICFRS as a matter of urgency to ensure the website and survey are restored as quickly as possible. Once we have further information, we will issue a full update to members.
This is the first time HMICFRS has sought stakeholder involvement in its work on firearms licensing and we welcome this step. We will notify members as soon as the survey is live again and continue to encourage all those who have renewed their certificate or applied for a grant in the last two years to take part.
