The Game Fair is the biggest celebration of all things countryside, working gundogs included.Â
Among the many features of The Game Fair 2025 were several working gundog competitions and finals, bringing the best of the best together in one place.
This year, this included the awarding of BASC’s Tower Bird trophies and the final of the BASC-sponsored 5 Regions Charity Working Tests.
The Tower Bird trophies were named in memory of Noel M (Tim) Sedgewick, former editor-in-chief of The Shooting Times and Country Magazine, who wrote under the pseudonym Tower Bird.
The trophies, as well as commemorative prizes, are awarded on a points system to the most successful retriever, spaniel, HPR and pointer or setter during the previous field trial season.

The 5 Regions Charity Working Tests competition for spaniels was held on 17 and 18 May 2025 to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week.Â
The competitions took place at five locations across England, Wales and Scotland to raise awareness of mental health and generate funds for Mind, Scottish Action for Mental Health and the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust.
The top three spaniels and handlers from each of the five venues qualified for the grand finale at The Game Fair. Top-scoring minor breed spaniels across the regions also secured a place in the final.
The 5 Regions Charity Working Tests raised a total of £9,354, which will be split between the three named charities.
The Game Fair was buzzing with spaniel energy thanks to the 5 Regions Charity Working Test finals. The dogs competed over two days, with the awards ceremony, sponsored by Skinner’s and BASC, held on Sunday afternoon.
