Entries are now open for BASC’s working dog classes at Crufts 2025, held in the historic gamekeepers’ rings on Gundog Day, Saturday 8 March.
The gamekeepers’ rings at Crufts features a variety of classes, including breed-specific categories for working dogs and gamekeepers’ dogs, as well as team classes for dogs and handlers from the same shoot.
A highlight is the young handler classes, where aspiring handlers present dogs that have actively participated in the shooting field.
Ged Hunston, gamekeeping and working dog advisor at BASC, emphasised the significance of this event: “Crufts provides an unparalleled opportunity to demonstrate the essential role that working gundogs play in shooting. We are delighted to continue this tradition and share the dedication and expertise of our members with a global audience.”
BASC’s classes at Crufts are open to gundogs that have regularly worked on shoots throughout the season. Please note however, dogs docked in the UK or abroad on or after 6 April 2007 are not permitted to be shown at Crufts.
You can enter online or by post, with online entries closing at midnight on 2 February. Postal entries close prior to this, due by 6 January (postmark). Find more information and details of how to enter here.
