Morlais Valley Shooting Club
The Morlais Valley Shooting Club founded in 1967 initially as a Pheasant Shooting syndicate. In 1981 the Club officially secured the wildfowling lease in the Burry estuary, which is situated approximately 8 miles west of Swansea, on the North side of Gower, enabling structured management, to ensure the continuity of sustainable wildfowling in that area.
Today it’s solely a Wildfowling club with governing members, including Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Minute Secretary, which issues 50 seasonal permits per year. The club encourages junior permit holders to continue the traditions of wildfowling and permits are free up until 21 years of age.
All who shoot on the club’s grounds are strictly required to provide a bag return to the committee at the end of the every season which forms part of the management plan, thereby ensuring continuity of wildfowling for future generations.
Permits available: A maximum of 50 permits issued each season at £60 each. Junior permits are free. The sponsor of the junior permit must be an existing permit holder. Prospective permit holders must attend an interview with club officials. Cheques should be made payable to the Morlais Valley Shooting Club.
Application details: Applications should be made to Paul Leyshon (as above) by telephone. Valid BASC membership number is required. Wildfowl returns are to be sent to Paul Leyshon by arrangement.
Additional information: A dog capable of retrieving from water must accompany permit holders at all times.
