Elections to BASC Council and notice of Annual General Meeting 2020

Each candidate was invited to provide up to 500 words addressing how their personal qualities and experience would benefit BASC Council and their aspirations as council members. You can read them below by clicking on individual candidates.

Candidates for election to BASC Council

There are ten candidates standing for two national seats and one candidate standing for one Northern Ireland country seat.

You can vote for your candidate online here or by returning the freepost ballot form included in the Shooting and Conservation magazine. All votes must be submitted by 10am on Wednesday 8 July 2020.  

You will need to use your unique voting number to vote online. This voting number will be on the ballot paper sent to you in your S&C magazine or in a letter which will be sent separately.

Both members in a BASC joint membership category can vote. There is only one set of voting papers included in BASC’s membership magazine for the primary member. Joint members will receive their set of ballot papers by direct mail. If you haven’t received your voting papers by Friday 15 May 2020 please contact Louise Murray, who can be contacted on 01244 573 039 or email.

The election results are due to be announced at the BASC AGM on 11 July 2020.

Due to the Coronavirus emergency it is currently unknown what government guidance and rules on social distancing and group meetings will be in place when the AGM is due to be held. 

Currently, the BASC AGM 2020 is due to be held at 10:30am on Saturday 11 July 2020 at BASC Head Office, Marford Mill, Rossett, Wrexham LL12 0HL.

BASC is looking into various options and once a decision is made, an announcement regarding the AGM will be published online.

Change to constitution

At a council meeting of the Registered Society, duly convened and held at Marford Mill, Rossett, Wrexham LL12 0HL on 26 March 2020, the following resolution was duly passed by Council, to be put before the Annual General Meeting on the 11 July 2020 to be put to the vote in accordance with rule 7 of the Constitution and section 16 of the Co-operative and Community Benefit Act 2014.

Resolution

THAT the rules 5, (e), (ii) in the Registered Society Constitution is amended from:

“the Council may appoint Advisory Committees to operate for such periods and with such powers as the Council shall from time to time think fit. The members of the Advisory Committee shall include two members of Council, one of whom shall be appointed Chairman by the Council, additional members need not be members of the Council but shall be members of this Association”.

TO
