Applications are now open for the 2025 BASC Legacy Funded Scholarship and the BASC Wildlife Fund David Gray Scholarship.
The BASC Legacy and BASC Wildlife Fund David Gray Scholarship awards are part of BASC’s commitment to supporting the next generation of conservationists, gamekeepers, ecologists, and individuals pursuing careers which align with shooting and sustainable land management.
Open to students in the UK studying (or applying to study) at college or university, the scholarships provide financial support to help with tuition fees, equipment, travel, or other course-related costs. There are multiple scholarship awards available across both schemes.
Curtis Mossop, BASC’s head of education and outreach, said: “The two schemes are about investing in people who will shape the future of our countryside. This year’s scholarships will take the total awarded since the inception of the programme to more than £100,000, which is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of.”
The BASC Legacy Funded Scholarship is designed to support those undertaking (or applying to study) further or higher education courses centred around conservation, biodiversity and sustainable land use. Typical applicants may be studying gamekeeping, countryside management, wildlife management, or related fields. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of sustainable shooting and conservation.
The BASC Wildlife Fund David Gray Scholarship is awarded in memory of David Gray, a passionate advocate for wildlife and conservation. This scholarship specifically supports students whose work focuses on wildlife research, habitat management, or species monitoring. It encourages innovative, evidence-based approaches that enhance our understanding and protection of the UK’s wild species and their environments.
The scholarships are open to current BASC members (or those who have immediate family who are members). The application process is now live and will remain open until 27 July 2025. Learn more, including details of how to apply here.
