BASC at Crufts 2026: Meet the judges

Crufts

BASC is delighted to announce that Raymond Holt, Jeremy Organ and Megan Fox will judge BASC’s working gundog classes at Crufts 2026.

Judging in BASC’s gamekeeper rings at Crufts is a landmark moment for anyone who has spent years breeding and training working gundogs.

The judges for Crufts 2026 have been announced as Raymond Holt, Jeremy Organ and Megan Fox.

Raymond Holt

Gamekeeper classes and class final

Raymond has been head gamekeeper for the Royal Kennel Club on the Emblehope and Burngrange Estate since it opened in 2017. He began gamekeeping at 15 years old and has had an avid interest in gundogs throughout his career, which has spanned more than 40 years.

He has provided a venue for many field trials and events on the estates he was employed by, culminating in hosting the cocker spaniel & HPR championships at Emblehope in 2023.

Raymond currently owns labradors and cocker spaniels. He has served as a NP field trial judge for both retrievers and HPR breeds and was honoured to judge the BASC working dog – bitches classes at Crufts in 2022. Keen to support local clubs, he is also the current Working Test Secretary for the Tyne, Tees & Tweed Field Trial Association.

Nothing makes Raymond happier than to be out in the shooting field working with his dogs and watching them going about their business with enthusiasm and determination.

Jeremy grew up on his family’s farm in the Cotswolds with pedigree pigs and sheep, where shooting was also a major part of his life. He started trialling English springer spaniels started with a homebred Edgegrove bitch in 1988. Edgegrove still has a direct unbroken line back to that first bitch; a gift from his parents when he left college.

Twenty-eight years ago, Jeremy and wife Gill set up a small boarding kennels, giving Jeremy more time to train, compete and judge. He has made up seven English springer spaniels and one cocker to Field Trial Champion (FTCh).

He became a spaniel A Panel judge 26 years ago and has since judged the British AV Spaniel Championship twice, the British Cocker Championship twice, the Swedish Championship three times and the Irish championship, the Danish, Norwegian and Finnish.

Jeremy’s most memorable and proud field trialling moment was when he and his eldest son Oliver competed in the British Any Variety Spaniel Championship, both gaining a diploma of merit – a first for a father and son in more than 29 years.

Megan Fox

Working dog (bitches) classes

Megan grew up on a sporting estate in Nottinghamshire and began beating at a young age. She bought her first gundog, an English springer spaniel, 15 years ago and worked her until retirement. Megan now has her daughter and several working cockers. Her stepfather is a gamekeeper and her dogs work regularly on the shoot. She also has experience in the show ring.

She has helped at working tests and field trials and aims to compete herself. Her ideal day is a small rough shoot with a few people, good dogs and steady shooting.

Megan is a keen clay shot and helps run Girls and Guns, a not-for-profit group that introduces women to shooting and raises money for charity.

Her mother is a judge and Megan often accompanies her. She hopes that growing up among many gundog breeds has given her a good eye. She has competed at Crufts for several years and won Best in Show in the BASC gamekeeper class in 2022. She is looking forward to stepping onto the green carpet as a judge.
