Now in its fourth year, the BASC Young Shots Journalists project is now accepting applications for its 2022 intake.
The project aims to seek out young people with an interest in journalism to become shooting ambassadors through their role as a Young Shots Journalist.
For 2022, BASC will be looking for five young people with a passion for writing, photography or film-making to be part of the year-long programme.
Being selected as a Young Shots Journalist offers each young person the opportunity to spend a year learning about different forms of journalism.
Each will gain first-hand experience from BASC experts throughout the year and have their work featured on the BASC website, in BASC’s Shooting & Conservation magazine and weekly newsletter.
The Young Shots Journalists initiative provides young people interested in shooting and the countryside with valuable experience ahead of a potential a future in journalism.
In return, BASC asks participants to keep the organisation and its members up to date with their pursuits, creating content to inform and inspire other current and potential young shots.
The Young Shots Journalists project offers the next generation of shooters and conservationists an opportunity to voice their opinions and share their passion with a wider audience.
Current Young Shots Journalist, Louis Sykes said that the programmed allowed him “a platform to share my love of field sports with people around the country.”
He continued: “It has also helped me in training to be a journalist by giving me real experience in writing stories for an engaged audience.”
Remember, we are looking for applications from budding photographers and film-makers as well as writers, so wherever your creative talents lie, we want to hear from you.
