Update to night shooting licence CL55

Two night shooters walking

BASC is reminding members of an important update to CL55, following the introduction of a new condition relating to night shooting activities.

Under the revised Condition 7 of CL55 (licence to kill deer at night by shooting), anyone operating under the licence must inform both the local police and the relevant firearms licensing authority at least 24 hours before undertaking night shooting for the first time at a location.

In addition, licence users are required to notify neighbouring landowners or occupiers in advance where it is reasonable to believe that adjoining land may be affected or disturbed by the activity.

The update is intended to improve communication and reduce the potential for concern or disruption associated with lawful night shooting operations. BASC encourages all members to familiarise themselves with the revised wording and ensure they remain fully compliant when operating under CL55.

Members should review their current pest and wildlife management procedures to ensure the appropriate notifications are made before commencing night shooting activities.
