Peter Swann has received a BASC Special Presentation Award in recognition of more than 15 years of committed service to Woodhouse Gun Club.
Peter Swann (pictured above right) received a BASC Special Presentation Award from BASC’s central regional director, Lewis Thornley. The award marks his long-standing commitment and the steady focus he has shown in supporting both Woodhouse Gun Club and its members.
Peter first joined the club as a regular member before taking on the role of secretary in 2017. Since then he has handled a wide range of work that keeps the club running smoothly.
Members credit him with looking after everything from membership records, fees and the monitoring of shotgun certificates to insurance cover and even the provision of hot food and refreshments at club events. He also oversees club members’ BASC membership and works closely with our regional teams when needed.
Planning the club’s fortnightly clay shoots also falls to Peter, who arranges layouts, completes risk assessments, liaises with landowners for venues and secures approval from the police firearms department. He ensures each shoot meets the necessary safety standards and complies with relevant legislation.
David Ward, who nominated him on behalf of the club, said the full scale of Peter’s contribution only becomes clear once it is written down. He described Peter’s work as essential and carried out without any expectation of acknowledgement.
