BASC Women in Shooting has an event for you this Autumn, whether you’re new to shooting or have a favoured discipline.
The turning of Summer to Autumn marks a busy time of year in the shooting calendar. In terms of live quarry, the return of the grouse season, followed by partridge in September and pheasants in October is greeted with eager anticipation by shooting folk everywhere.Â
September 1 also heralds the availability of duck and goose with the traditional opening of the wildfowling season. For deer managers, the season for hinds/does begins in October or November, depending where in the UK you’re located.Â
If you are looking to get out and about this Autumn, either to try shooting for the first time, have a bit of fun experiencing something new, or to hone your existing skills, BASC Women in Shooting has an event for you.
September offers some real highlights in terms of shooting and social opportunities. In addition to two introductory days for those new to clay shooting on 14 and 27 September in Newport and Worcestershire respectively, we are also hosting a women’s shooting day in Armagh, Northern Ireland on 28 September. Doubling up on 14 September is a women’s sporting shooting competition at Ian Coley Sporting, too.
If you’re looking for a fantastic event in Scotland, our simulated MacNab day at Gleneagles Shooting School is one not to be missed. Including a 40-bird sporting clay layout, rifle shooting, and fly-fishing on the loch at the school, you’re certain of a superb day of sport in beautiful surroundings.
If you fancy a cracking night OUT OUT, the annual Tweed Ball takes place on 27 September at The Barnsdale in Oakham, Rutland. Run by Country Content, BASC members can claim a special offer of 25 per cent off the ticket price. All you need to do is input the code BASC25 upon booking. Find out more and secure your places here.
The shooting continues into October, with introduction to clay pigeon shooting events happening in Wales on 2 October (at Dovey Valley shooting ground in Powys) and on 4 October at Cefn Goleu Farm in Gowerton near Swansea. The Dynamic Ladies Shooting Club cup shoot also takes place the same weekend, running at South Downs Gun Club on 5 October.Â
Running over two days from 4-5 October is the Ultimate Women’s Event, incorporating sim, deer and game days at Childerley Sporting in Bedfordshire. An exiting new BASC Women in Shooting event for this year, places are available now – find out more and book here.
If you’re a keen rifle shot, or have never tried but would like to, we’re holding a women’s rifle day at Bisley shooting ground in Surrey on 12 October. A fantastic success in 2023, you can get more info on the day and book your place here.
Rounding off the year is a clay to game day at Barhill Sporting in Staffordshire, run by BASC’s central region team. Incorporating two simulated drives, followed by two live quarry drives after lunch, it promises to be a superb day of shooting. More details and a link to book can be found here.
