Sarcocystosis survey form
Use our online reporting form to record suspected cases of sarcocystosis – rice breast – in waterfowl. The information you provide enables us to monitor the prevalence and distribution of this emerging parasitic disease in the UK.
Please use one form per case
Any personal details will be stored in accordance with BASC’s privacy policy and will not be shared with any third parties. Your email address may be used to contact you about your submission and/or if you have indicated at the end of the form that you are happy to be contacted about the number of birds you shot this season.
Sample collection
This year we are hoping to collect a small sample of sarcocystosis infected carcasses. If you or your club would be willing to store the carcass for us, please do so by placing it in a sealable bag (eg. Ziplock) in the freezer and contact monitoring@basc.org.uk to organise collection.Â
Please note that it is completely voluntary to keep the carcass, and you can submit this form without doing so. Collections are subject to geographical location and availability; please contact us in the first instance for guidance.
