BASC Scotland’s Gamekeeping and Wildlife Management Day is an annual gathering of members of Scotland’s shooting community, being held this year at Scone Palace in Perthshire.Â
The event is free to attend for all BASC members. Join your fellow gamekeepers, deer stalkers and wildlife managers from across Scotland for talks, workshops and presentations; bookings are open now.
Topics covered on the day will include deer management, wildlife management, licensing, sporting rates and the Natural Environment (Scotland) Bill.Â
Workshop hosts include Spratts Game Foods, Bright Spark Burning Techniques and Moredun Research Institute.
In what is an election year, there will also be an opportunity to hear from the political parties about their position on rural issues. Confirmed attendees are Jim Fairlie, MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire (SNP) and the Minister for Agriculture and Connectivity; Murdo Fraser, MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife (Conservative); Rhoda Grant, MSP for Highlands and Islands (Labour) and Lord Malcolm Offord (Leader of Reform Scotland).
Following a delicious two-course lunch there will be a clay pigeon shooting competition in the afternoon.
The prize for ‘top shot’ in the gamekeeping member class of a day’s spring fishing on the Spey for two rods, kindly donated by Gordon Castle.
