BASC has launched its new DSC1 online theory course at The Stalking Show, offering a faster and more flexible route into deer management.
The course is the UK’s only one hundred per cent online DSC1 theory course and the first training delivery to be recognised by Lantra.
Developed by BASC deer experts, the course provides a high-quality and accessible way for both new and experienced stalkers to gain their DSC1 qualification.
By removing the need for in-person theory sessions, the course makes it quicker and more convenient to get started. Candidates will still complete a practical shooting test, but this is delivered as a pre-booked session rather than a full day.
For BASC members, the course also offers strong value. Priced at £335 – in line with BASC’s existing courses and five pounds less than comparable alternatives – candidates can save on travel, time and potential accommodation costs. For the first six months, those completing the online course will also receive a £50 BushWear voucher.
The launch reinforces BASC’s commitment to self-regulation, with an expanded DSC1 offering designed to support responsible and sustainable deer management.
BASC’s executive director of shooting & operations, Gareth Dockerty, said: “This new course delivers the most affordable, accessible and trusted route into DSC1, built for anyone, anytime, anywhere. By offering a fully online theory option alongside our existing DSC1 pathways, we are giving candidates greater flexibility while maintaining the high standards expected of deer management training.”
