Role information
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to provide an effective facilities management and health and safety service to the association.
The role provides effective maintenance and security of the association’s office premises, vehicle fleet and equipment; and in addition, leads the health and safety support of the association.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities
Security
- Put in place security procedures and ensure they operate both inside and outside head office premises during normal working hours. Carry out ad hoc security checks outside usual working hours including weekends.
- Manage any security breaches and put measures in place to prevent re-occurrence.
- Undertake security checks at close of business in line with the lock-up policy/procedures. Ensure cover is arranged with wider team in periods of absence from site.
- Organise site security patrols with external contractors as and when appropriate and maintain close liaison with the local police force.
- Oversee visitor control restrictions during working hours.
- Oversee the issuing of keys and security tabs to appropriate employees.
- Maintain and regularly test the intruder alarm system and door entry systems, including being on call 24-hours if the alarm is activated and a response is required.
Maintenance
- Responsible for grounds/building maintenance of the head office site (Marford Mill) to budgeted and agreed schedule of works.
- Responsible for the grounds/building maintenance of the association’s regional offices to budgeted and agreed schedule of works.
- Maintain the interior and exterior of the head office premises including the daily supervision of cleaning staff, gardening staff and disposal of waste material.
- Supervise the maintenance of office furnishings and equipment, liaising with the health and safety and administration coordinator when procurement is required.
- Supervise the maintenance of the grounds and waterways throughout the site, including clearing the mill race, stream pipe, guttering; grass cutting; pest control and wooded areas.
- Supervise any grounds contractors appointed.
- Maintain, in consultation with the supplying contractor, all firefighting and fire detection equipment throughout head office.
- Maintain and test the fire alarm and emergency lighting.
- Arrange for portable appliance tests (PAT) in all BASC’s offices and those of home workers at the required intervals, reporting to head office and maintaining records as appropriate.
- Order and ensure timely delivery of domestic heating oil to supply all tanks on site.
Health and safety
- Leadership of health and safety for the association.
- Co-ordination, attendance and contribution at health and safety meetings.
- Ensure the association’s compliance with all statutory health and safety requirements, e.g. risk assessments and fire procedures.
- Oversight of health and safety induction training.
General
- Co-ordinate the storage/archiving of equipment and documents at the head office and off site.
- With the line management and support of the health and safety and administration coordinator, maintain appropriate communication with all employees on general site maintenance and security matters.
Vehicle fleet
- Manage the maintenance of the pool car fleet and trailers (servicing, valeting etc.). Carry out routine checks (oil, water etc.) and ensure all required paperwork is complete and up to date.
- Assist in the purchase and disposal of company vehicles for employees when required. Arrange rental vehicles for staff as required.
- With assistance from the administration team, manage the fleet of vehicles by ensuring insurance, vehicle tax, MOT and other relevant vehicle information is recorded and managed.
Management
- Day-to-day line management responsibility for the health and safety and administration coordinator.
- Leadership of administration team through the health and safety and administration coordinator.

Good standard of education including Maths and English GCSE or equivalent. Recognised H&S qualification e.g. (NEBOSH). Experience in security and/or maintenance.   General vehicle maintenance experience. Excellent team player. Able to work flexibly. Enthusiastic and approachable. General requirements
BASC head office is based in Marford Mill, Rossett, with country and regional offices across the UK.
We have an agile working approach, with our core hours being between 8.30 – 5.30 Monday to Friday. We do expect some weekend and out-of-hours working to support our membership engagement. Your working hours are stated in your contact of employment.
You are expected to be flexible, agile and willing to undertake any other duties that may be reasonable required.
All our employees must always act as a positive ambassador for the association when dealing with members or representing the association in other ways.
