This year’s BASC AGM took place on 18 May 2024, where two new BASC Council members were elected.

BASC’s AGM took place at Marford Mill today, Saturday 18 May. The meeting included the election of two Council members, both of which were for national seats.

Gareth Wilson is a former chief constable of Suffolk Constabulary and is interested in a broad range of pursuits covered by BASC.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be elected to Council and I’m really hoping that the experience I have – everything from working my dogs through to deer stalking and rough shooting – brings benefits to the members.  I hope my professional career and skills will also be of significant benefit to BASC.”

Aidan Dryden, from Worcestershire, was elected to the other national seat. His shooting interests centre around wildfowling and rough shooting.

He said: “It’s an honour to be elected to represent our sport by members of the sport and I’ll do my best to represent all members.”

Following the AGM, chairman of BASC’s Council, Eoghan Cameron, said: “Congratulations and welcome to Gareth and Aidan. Shooting continues to face an array of challenges and BASC’s attitude and approach is what sets us apart and stands us in good stead to face them head-on.

“BASC is leading from the front and fighting the battles where and when they need to be fought on behalf of the whole community. Together we are stronger.”
