Taking place from 11-12 May in Harrogate, the National Shooting Show is a highlight in the shooting calendar. What’s more, BASC members get complimentary entry over the weekend.
Taking over the Yorkshire Event Centre on the outskirts of Harrogate from 11-12 May, the National Shooting Show is certainly worth a visit.
Aside from the free parking, as a BASC member you’ll also get complimentary entry for both days, plus a discounted rate for guest tickets. Cracking. (Just make sure you book your tickets in advance here to avoid disappointment.)
If you’ve never been to the National Shooting Show and are unsure of what to expect or why you should go, let’s give you a bit of a preview:
If you’ve been to the Yorkshire Event Centre before you’ll know it’s a pretty big place and, as home of the Great Yorkshire Show, it’s well set up to hold a massive shooting extravaganza like the National Shooting Show. Parking is free and there are indoor and outdoor sections of the event for you to explore.
The exhibitor list is pretty strong, too, so whatever you’re in the market for perusing, trying or buying, you’ll likely find it here. Check out the confirmed exhibitors.
As a National Shooting Show event partner, BASC is out in force at the show and we’re already looking forward to seeing lots of members from the local area and further afield over the two days.Â
On the main BASC stand, you’ll find representatives of our BASC team, geared up to share expert advice on firearms, wildfowling, conservation and moorland management, alongside general membership enquiries. We’ll even give you complimentary tea and coffee when you drop by to see us.Â
If you’re interested in exclusive BASC member offers and discounts (and who isn’t?) available on all sorts of goods and services, our commercial team will be on hand to guide you through. We’ll also have our shooting simulator on the stand (pictured top) and information and advice on switching to sustainable ammunition.
BASC’s deer management team will be on hand, too, for all deer and stalking-related queries. You’ll find them in the Deer Zone, where we’ll be joined by Keith’s High Seats throughout the show. Head measuring will be taking place and we’ll be running a series of live demonstrations over the weekend, including lymph node location and aging deer through tooth inspection.
New for this year is a children’s conservation area, located in the Deer Zone, where you can book a slot for kids to build their very own BASC bird box to take home with them.
If you’re in the market for a shooting lesson, BASC’s shotgun coaches are the best in the business. They will be located at the BASC Clay Line, with sessions available to book right across the weekend – whether you are a seasoned shot or picking up a gun for the first time.Â
You can also complete your BASC Safe Shot assessment and try sustainable ammunition. Find out more here.Â
Sponsored by BASC, this year’s Hunter’s Kitchen is littered with top chefs and wild food fanatics to inspire and, quite frankly, make you pretty hungry. Whether you’re after butchery demos, or sumptuous game creations, the line-up for 2024 is top-notch.
Some of those confirmed to appear this year are Lionel Strub (chef patron at the Eat Game Award-winning Clarendon Inn), outdoor cookery sensation Cai Ap Bryn (Game and Flames), foraging expert Rob Booth and, all the way from the Trossachs National Park, Lucy Pattinson (Fodder + Farm).
Let’s face it, Yorkshire is famous for its hospitality and friendly people, so if you’re travelling to the show from other parts of the country, you’re in good hands.Â
As you’d expect, you’ll find a full range of accommodation options in and around Harrogate itself. If you’re keen to be within walking distance of the show for the weekend, camping pitches are available, too.Â
Whatever your interest in shooting, the National Shooting Show has it all. Book your tickets for the ultimate shooting weekend right here.
