Biosecurity guidance for game shooters

Why biosecurity matters for those who shoot game

  • As a game shooter who attends a game shoot what you do (or don’t do) can significantly affect biosecurity. Good biosecurity helps protect biodiversity, uphold high standards of gamebird and wildlife management, and safeguard the long-term future of game shooting and the rural communities whose livelihoods are closely linked to them.

What you should do

  • A few days before the shoot day ensure you have biosecurity guidance from the shoot provider and familiarise yourself with any requirements.
  • Ensure your vehicle, footwear, clothing, and equipment are clean, especially if you have recently visited other shoots.
  • On the shoot day adhere to the biosecurity advice given in the shoot briefing and throughout the day.
  • Use foot dips/boot cleaning stations.
