Scotland’s country sports tourism sector was celebrated in style at the 2025 Scottish Country Sports Tourism Awards, with this year’s winners were honoured for their exceptional contribution to one of the country’s most distinctive and valuable rural industries.
Held at the BASC stand during the GWCT Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace on Friday 4 July, the awards shone a spotlight on the people and businesses helping to drive forward sustainable tourism, conservation and community, across the length and breadth of Scotland.
Now in its third year, the awards are organised by Country Sport Scotland, the national platform for country sports tourism, which is proudly run by the BASC.
This year’s winners reflect the depth and variety of Scotland’s offering, with new categories introduced to celebrate both the growing presence of women in the industry and the country’s world-renowned fishing opportunities. The 2025 awards were presented by BASC’s chief executive, Ian Bell (pictured top).
Ian said: “It’s inspiring to see how individuals and businesses across Scotland continue to raise the bar, offering not only outstanding sporting experiences but also playing a vital role in conservation, employment, and education. As the UK’s largest shooting and conservation organisation, BASC is proud to support these awards, which recognise that contribution in all its depth and value.”
Cameron Mathieson, Senior Solicitor at Thorntons, the awards’ headline sponsor, commented: “Thorntons are delighted to support the Scottish Country Sports Tourism Awards this year. These awards provide an opportunity to recognise some of the very best that Scotland has to offer.
“It was a fantastic experience being part of the judging panel. The competition was tremendously fierce, and each individual and organisation that made the shortlist should be very proud of what they’ve achieved.
“At times like this when the rural sector is facing an increasing range of challenges and constraints, it is important to take the time to reflect on the good work that can be done – and is being done – by so many across the sector. The nominees are a snapshot of the wider picture, but each contribute to making Scotland a world leader in terms of sporting tourism.”
Kirk Norbury, Project Manager for Country Sport Scotland, added: “Each year, the standard of entries continues to rise, and 2025 has been no exception. These awards highlight the excellence across Scotland’s country sports tourism industry, from traditional family-run estates to modern innovators attracting new audiences. We’re proud to play a part in championing their work.”
The winners of the Scottish Country Sports Tourism Awards 2025 were:
Highly Commended awards went to: Logiealmond Estate, International Hunting Scotland, Gordon Castle Estate, Dunkeld House Hotel, Chris Dalton, Cara Hutchens
