What a week it’s been for teenager Bethany Norton; she not only broke a junior world record at her first-ever senior event, but she also took home a gold medal.

The 19-year-old, who is sponsored by BASC, won the women’s skeet at the ISSF World Cup in Tangier, Morocco, beating Olympic and world championship medallists to come out on top.

Having qualified with a score of 119, she not only secured her place in the final but also guaranteed a new junior world record, leaving her “overwhelmed” by her achievements.

Bethany was a recipient of sponsorship through BASC’s Legacy Sponsorship Programme.

Proud and happy

“No matter what happened, I knew I was going to be really proud and happy with the outcome and all the hard work I’ve put in over the winter,” she told British Shooting.

“I’m pretty overwhelmed. I wasn’t expecting to even qualify for a final this weekend, so to make the final and then come away with gold is just amazing.”

“When they were calling everyone out – Olympian, Olympic medallist, world championship medallist – and then there was just me, first World Cup final… it was a big moment.”
