BASC has today paid tribute to Christopher Graffius, who passed away peacefully in his sleep yesterday, 11 February, after a long illness.
Christopher was a dedicated and long-serving executive director of communications and political affairs at BASC, working for the association for 24 and a half years. His contribution to BASC and to the wider shooting world was invaluable, shaped by a commitment that went far beyond his role.
BASC chief executive, Ian Bell, said: “It is with great sadness that we share the news of Christopher’s passing. He had been ill for some time, but his dedication never wavered. For Christopher, supporting shooting was not simply a profession, but a vocation and a way of life. His contribution to BASC and to the world of shooting was immense, and he will be greatly missed by colleagues and friends alike. Our thoughts are with Christopher’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
BASC chairman, Eoghan Cameron added: “Christopher gave an extraordinary amount to BASC and was a tireless champion of our cause. Even in the most challenging times, his focus on defending our community never faltered. He was deeply respected across our organisation and beyond, and his commitment and professionalism will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working with him.”
BASC president, the Marquess of Hamilton added: “Christopher embodied the very best of BASC – integrity, commitment, thoughtfulness and a deep belief in the importance of what we do. He will be remembered with great affection and respect.”
