Gundog First Aid Course
This one day course will be theory and practical based. We aim to ensure that the practical element is realistic and relevant.
This course is for individuals who have working dogs on shoots around the UK and who wish to know more about maximising their dog’s health and administering canine first aid.
The training is provided by Dr Victoria Strong BSc (Hons) BVSc DVetMed AFHEA MRCVS. She is a qualified veterinary surgeon from the University of Liverpool. She spent three years in full-time mixed veterinary practice before completing a four-year postgraduate doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Nottingham.
Dr Strong is currently a senior lecturer in animal and veterinary nursing science at Nottingham Trent University.
The course will involve both theory and hands-on teaching. By the end of the day those attending will:
- Understand the importance of preventative health measures in ensuring the health of gundogs.
- Know how to perform a basic clinical examination and to identify issues requiring immediate attention.
- Be aware of the common health risks associated with working a gundog and how they can be prevented and/or identified.
