Ralph Gibson, a keen game shooter and former fowler, died in May at his home in Broughton, North Lincolnshire.

Ralph was a close friend and fellow member of Springthorpe game shoot; he served as Captain for 12 years and was involved with our feeding programme, along with Bob Cowan and myself.

We met on Thursdays to fill the feeders and take out grain: we also did many other jobs as needed.

He was very proud of his grandson Freddie and taught him shooting.

Freddie now has taken his grandpa’s place in the shoot, something that Ralph was keen for him to do.

Ralph attended our last annual shoot dinner and it was a pleasure for him to see his 16-year-old protege be awarded Shot of the Year 2017/18.
