Special features include comment from Lantra’s Chief Executive and Chairman on the current lively debate on skills provision, a focus on apprenticeships and a spotlight on how Lantra is contributing to the success of the Scottish Government’s Whole Farm Review Scheme.

There is also coverage on the AgriSkills Strategy spearheaded by Lantra’s Chairman of the new Council for England, Richard Longthorp. The Strategy has the support of Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Hilary Benn MP.

One of the aims of this skills strategy, developed with the collaboration of the major agricultural organisations, is to enhance the image of agriculture and production horticulture and help attract 60,000 new farming entrants over the next ten years to help safeguard the future food and fuel security of the UK.

Plus news from the Welsh Land-based Learner of the Year Awards, where Elin Jones AM, Welsh Minister for Rural Affairs, announced the January increase to 80% funding for eligible Welsh businesses through Farming Connect.
