SsangYong Rexton Ultimate - Vehicle review
If you’re looking for a big car with full off-road capability and luxury spec at a very competitive price, the SsangYong Rexton may be the perfect choice. It will meet all needs and expectations of even the most demanding customers, offering internal comfort of a high-end SUV and the pulling power of a truck – but for less than half the price. The Rexton costs from £28,495 for the base model, up to £38,495 for the top-of-the-range Ultimate. We had the opportunity to test the Rexton Ultimate and here’s what we thought…
Boasting a 2.2 litre turbodiesel engine and seven-speed gear box, this large SUV drives smoother than you would think possible and can tow up to 3.5 tonne. The Rexton handles well and the ride over rough terrain is comfortable enough. Parking this behemoth is easier than expected and high-end models are fitted with front, rear and side cameras, parking sensors and sizable mirrors, which makes the job child’s play.
In terms of styling, the 2017 Rexton has been totally redesigned and given a much needed facelift. SsangYong have not skimped on extras, including heated seats and steering wheel, multimedia and Satnav, side step, power socket and rear skid plates – and that’s just a few of the improvements. All at a price considerably lower than those of its rivals.
It is clear that SsangYong have taken a big step forward with the Rexton – we were very much impressed with this car. Definitely a top score from us.
