How your shoot can help bring more young people into shooting
As we look forward to another enjoyable shooting season, it’s a good time to think about what we can do to safeguard the future of this great sport of ours.
BASC has two schemes to raise funds for this purpose. One is our Shoot Sweepstake Kit and the other is the Sporting Auction we run each spring.
In previous years we have used the proceeds from these projects to help fund our work in the political arena to protect and promote shooting. But our political clout depends on numbers and we need to bring more young people into our sport. The overwhelming majority of shooters are over 40 years of age.
Our hugely successful Young Shots programme has introduced many thousands of young people to shooting. Currently we are spending more than £250,000 each year on Young Shots but we need to do much more and our resources are limited. So how can you help?
- If you run a sweepstake at your shoot please consider donating some of the proceeds. You can run a competition to guess the total bag, or even the number of shots fired. To help we’ve produced a handy wooden shoot sweepstake box together with a supply of sweepstake cards.
- Consider donating some shooting for one or more Guns in BASC’s Annual Auction.
To receive your free collection box or offer an auction lot just write to, email or telephone: BASC, Marford Mill, Rossett, Wrexham LL12 0HL. Tel: 01244 573000 email.
