The top 20 dogs on the league table were invited to attend the Grand Final at the Midland game fair at Weston Park in Shropshire to decide the overall champion. The weather remained fine all day, which helped to make the day such an enjoyable occasion.
Following on from the success and popularity of last year’s format there were five individual scurries to test the best 20 dogs and their handlers (and they were put to the test). These covered different exercises over testing terrain which featured long retrieves, a partridge pen and multiple blind and marked retrieves testing the skills of both dogs and handlers.
At the end of a day of stiff but friendly competition Tony Bryant and his Labrador “Skye” triumphed with a clear lead to take the title of Scurry League Champion 2018. This was the first year which Tony and “Skye” had competed in the scurries with them attending their first event at the Northern Shooting Show earlier in the year.
