How to Enter Crufts

GAMEKEEPERS CLASSES at CRUFTS


GUNDOG DAY (Day 1) – Thursday 7 March 2019

Judges:  Ms S Chichester, Ms S Burton & Mr D Hutchison

Ring Numbers   25/26/35     Hall 5

***COMPETING WITH DOCKED DOGS IN THE UK***

Dogs which were docked before 6th April 2007:
If your dog was docked either in the UK or in a foreign country before 6th April 2007 then it may compete at Crufts.

Dogs which were docked on or after 6th April 2007:

If your dog was docked either in the UK or in a foreign country on or after 6th April 2007 it will not, under the law, be permitted to be shown at Crufts (where public are admitted on payment of a fee).

INDIVIDUAL CLASSES (for Gamekeepers) – Judged by Ms S Chichester

Class Numbers; 652, 655, 658, 661, 664, 668, 669

Strictly confined to gundog owners who are employed as bone fide head, single-handed, beat or under-keepers, river keepers or stalkers, or those retired (the dog may however be handled by anyone else at the request of the owner).

To do list:

  1. Fill in the Crufts entry form (found at the bottom of this page or in the middle of the Crufts Schedule) and sign it to declare your eligibility to compete in these classes.
  2. Send the form along with the appropriate entry fee to Crufts as directed.
  3. The order of judging in the Gamekeepers Rings will be available, as soon as it has been finalised, on line or by phoning 01244 573019 but there should be a copy of this in the Crufts Catalogue
  4. If you hold a trophy from Crufts 2018 it must be returned to us by 11 January 2019.

INDIVIDUAL CLASSES (Working Gundogs) – Dogs judged by Ms S Burton, Bitches judged by Mr D Hutchison

Class Numbers; 653, 654, 656, 657, 659, 660, 662, 663, 665 & 666

These classes are for dogs who have regularly worked in the shooting field, and the owners must provide written confirmation from the keeper/shoot organiser that their dogs have been worked as members of his/her regular beating/picking up team.

  1. Fill in the Crufts form (found at the bottom of this page or in the middle of the Crufts schedule).
  2. Have the declaration signed and completed by the gamekeeper or shoot organiser where you predominately have worked your dog (this may be found on the reverse of the Crufts entry form or click the icon at the bottom of this page to download the form)
  3. Send the form with the appropriate entry fee to Crufts as directed
  4. The order of judging for the Gamekeepers Rings will be available, as soon as it has been finalised, on line or by phoning 01244 573019 but there should be a copy of this in the Crufts Catalogue.
  5. If you hold a Trophy from Crufts 2018 it must be returned to us before 11 January 2019.

GAMEKEEPER TEAMS

Class Number; 667

Teams of 3 dogs (plus 1 reserve which will not be shown unless required) each dog must be Kennel Club registered to a Gamekeeper but may be handled by anyone else at his/her request.

To do list:

  1. Copy/print the Crufts entry form (at the bottom of this page) four times, completely fill in one form per dog and owner clearly indicating which is the reserve dog.  Staple or pin all four forms together (No other entries on these forms please).
  2. Put the team name on each form.
  3. Where possible provide a Young Handler (name and address must be supplied) who can join you in the ring carrying a placard (which we will supply) with the name of your Shoot.  (See young handlers class)
  4. Sign the form to declare eligibility to compete in this class
  5. Send all the above to Crufts.   No fee required as this class is kindly sponsored by Crufts.

WORKING GUNDOG TEAM COMPETITION

Class Number; 670

Teams of 3 dogs (plus 1 reserve which will not be shown unless required) not necessarily owned by but qualified by a Gamekeeper or shoot organiser as dogs which have regularly worked for him/her during the season 2018/19.

To do list:

  1. Copy/print the Crufts entry form (at the bottom of this page) four times, completely fill in one form per dog and owner clearly indicating which is the reserve dog.  Staple or pin all four forms together (No other entries on these forms please)
  2. Put the team name on each form.
  3. Have the declaration signed and completed by the gamekeeper or shoot organiser where you have predominately worked your dog (this may be found on the reverse of the Crufts entry form or click the icon below to download the form)
  4. Where possible provide a Young Handler (name and address must be supplied) who can join you in the ring carrying a placard (which we will supply) with the name of your Shoot. (See young handlers class)

Best Young Handlers Class

Class Number; 671 & 672

Any working gundog (dog or bitch) participating or eligible to participate in one of the above classes may be shown by a Young Handler. The classes are for ‘young handlers under 14 years of age’ and for ‘young handlers 14 – 18 years of age’.

  1. Fill in the Crufts form (found at the bottom of this page) and send it to Crufts as directed.  Please supply name and address of young handler.Crufts_2015-3544
  2. This Class is kindly sponsored by Crufts so there is no entry fee.

How to Enter

  • Check that your dog is eligible for the gamekeeper and/or working gundog classes.
  • Have a look at the schedule (to be found below) and check the timings of the classes.
  • Ensure that all sections of the entry form (to be found below) are completed, it has been signed and that the correct fee has been enclosed (if applicable).
  • Enclose the relevant declarations and ensure they have been completed correctly.
  • Check the tick list on the reverse of the entry form.
  • Post the entry form to the address stated on the form before the closing date (note: you cannot enter online).

Please note, entry to these classes is by post only. The closing date for postal entries is Monday 7th January as postmarked.
