The Game Fair 2017
Complimentary entry for all BASC members
You’ll have heard by now that all BASC members will receive complimentary entry to the Game Fair 2017 at Hatfield House. This is an incredible offer from the largest Game Fair in the UK, in a year when the Fair returns to its fieldsports roots. It’s a genuine ‘must attend’ event!
Because this fantastic offer is available for all three days of the fair, which takes place from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 July, it’s likely to require some forward planning.
Will your shoot or club need to book a coach or minibus – or will you, your family or a few friends share a car? Will you go by train? The Game Fair is a short walk from Hatfield station which is only 30 minutes by fast train from Euston or Kings Cross.
Such a large fair could take more than just one day to get round so, if you are going to need accommodation you should get it booked as soon as possible.
At the fair ground itself, the organisers have arranged a wide range of camping options, from single pitches to ‘glamping’ in pre-pitched tents with airbeds, bedding and linen. Or, if nights under the stars aren’t really your cup of tea, the Game Fair organisers are arranging an exclusive deal with the nearby University of Hertfordshire where visitors can rent rooms in their student halls for £69 per night or £74 B&B. For more details, or to book, check out ‘accommodation’ on The Game Fair website, www.thegamefair.org using the code ‘gamefair’.
The announcement that The Game Fair is offering BASC members complimentary admission to this year’s show has had immediate effects.
Since the message went out we’ve had more than 150 people join (or re-join) every week – which is great news for everyone concerned, especially the exhibitors at the show.
Remember, to get into the show – on all three days if you want – all you have to do is show your current BASC membership card, along with some form of photo-ID such as a driving licence or shotgun certificate to prove that you’re the person you say you are – and you can walk straight in. What could be simpler?
With this in mind, make sure you check your membership details to ensure your membership is up-to-date and not due to lapse in the next month or so.
If you have friends or family members who are not BASC members and want to come to the Game Fair – why not get them to join BASC? Don’t forget, when a member sponsors another person to join, both can enter our Member-get-a Member annual draw to win a gun.
Gunmakers’ Row is the place to view the best and newest products from British gunmakers, as well as renowned names from around the world. All of the premier shooting-related companies will be there in one place, offering every accessory imaginable from knives to clothing.
As we go to press we’re told there’ll be more than 1,000 stands and exhibitors at the Fair, many of whom will be BASC trade members. So, if you see that bargain of a lifetime, make sure you ask the vendor to see if you’re eligible for some fantastic extra BASC discounts.
The clay lines. The Game Fair’s shooting line has become a staple feature of the show site for many years. It allows visitors the opportunity to have a mid-summer shoot out with competitions, ‘Have a Go’ booths and demonstrations. The Fair boasts Europe’s longest shooting line at a staggering 585 metres long! Plenty of room for the whole family to get involved with our great country sport. The shooting line will support shooters of all disciplines and abilities, so if you are a novice looking to try something new over the weekend, or a seasoned pro gathering top tips to advance your shooting, then this is the place for you. With a secure gun safe located on Gunmakers’ Row if you need it, there’s never been a better excuse to bring your gun along and enjoy some fantastic shooting.
The campsite is open from 12 noon on Wednesday 26 July until Monday 31 July 2017. Caravans, motor homes, live-in horseboxes and tents are all welcome. Pitches are a generous 10m x 10m. If your tent or vehicle is larger than this please book two pitches or telephone 07816 453 047 to make special arrangements. Situated near to the public entrance of the event, the campsite has a site manager on hand at all times to ensure you enjoy your stay, and offers water taps, regularly attended showers and toilets, a washing up area and chemical waste disposal points. In addition, there is a shop, catering and licensed bar with seating… plus a children’s play area.

If arriving at the Game Fair by car, please do not follow sat-nav directions to Hatfield House. Organisers have put in place specific traffic management plans and directions to car parking. Follow the AA signs once you are near to the venue.
Hatfield House is situated 21 miles north of Central London, just seven miles north of the M25. Alternatively, you can let the train take the strain – the main entrance to the Fair is opposite Hatfield station, and trains run from Kings Cross and Euston Station.
The Game Fair is keen to know if you’ll be attending. Register your interest and learn how to bring a guest by texting BASC to 82055.

We wouldn’t recommend taking your dogs to the Game Fair but, if you simply have no alternative, you can always leave your dog at the dog crèche (open 9am-5pm daily) for up to four hours while you enjoy the Game Fair.
