The Northern Ireland Countryside Festival which will be held over the period 31 May and 1 June 2014 has moved to Balmoral Park, Maze, Lisburn. This is an exciting development which will allow for further expansion of the Festival. The BASC NI team are very much look forward to working with the organisers to ensure yet another successful event, which is a showcase for country sports in Northern Ireland.
BASC staff will be on hand to give advice and guidance on a range of topics including wildlife legislation, firearms licensing, land management, conservation and BASC courses.
Back by popular demand will be the BASC ‘Taste of Game’ kitchen with exciting game menus prepared by Derek Patterson, a keen shooter and owner and chef of The Tannery in Moira. Joining the NI team on the stand will be Ulster Wildlife , highlighting the decline in the barn owl population and how people can help with the conservation efforts for this iconic species. Representatives from the NI Squirrel Forum and a number of volunteer red squirrel groups in NI will also be on the BASC stand to give advice on red squirrel conservation.
The BASC village will be even bigger and better than in previous years, with an increased number of BASC trade members and its own mini arena programme and demonstrations.

BASC NI will be running a Scurry at the Northern Ireland Countryside Festival. The Scurry, which is sponsored by Chudleys will be held on both Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June from 9am until close. The winner on each day will receive a rosette and a bag of Chudleys dog food and the fastest dog over both days will also receive a rosette and a bag of Chudleys dog food.
