9:30 am - 6:30 pm
High Chimney Wood
Old Warwick Road
One of a series of days designed for ladies wanting to get some theory and practical experience of deer stalking in the UK.
UKDTR provides training and a free service to deer stalkers to track and recover shot deer using specially-trained tracking dogs.
BASC has teamed up with UKTDR to provide a full day consisting of theory, some practical shot site assessment work plus demonstrations of scent-laying and techniques for training dogs to track.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own dogs for the day and will be taught how to work them on some simple trails laid in the grounds.
The aim is to give basic deer tracking training to inexperienced handlers and dogs to enable faster recovery of shot deer.
Even with textbook shot placement and perfect conditions, shot deer can sometimes run on and become difficult to find in woodland or thick cover. Trained tracking dogs can make finding them much easier.
Tea/ coffee, cake and lunch included.
Cost £55 per person (BASC members only).
