Microchipping
Microchipping is compulsory for all dogs over 8 weeks old in the UK and any owners whose dog is discovered not to be microchipped face criminal prosecution and a £500 fine.
Dogs for deer
The one-day course is designed for BASC members who are new to this area of stalking and is a must for anyone wishing to gain knowledge and confidence when using their dogs for deer work.
What is covered
Students will undertake theory lessons which include the following:
- Health and safety
- Law
- Different dog breeds
- Equipment
- Dog training
- Tracking techniques and basic tracking theory

Cost
- BASC members only: £90Â
Should there be insufficient bookings, BASC reserves the right to cancel the course. In the interests of fairness, BASC will aim to provide candidates with notification of cancellation as soon as possible prior to the advertised start date.
We strongly recommend that fees for any accommodation you book are refundable as BASC will not be responsible for any losses incurred by candidates.
If for any reason you cancel your place on the course then the following scale of charges may apply:

Sporting rifle course – small game and lampingÂ
This course includes detailed theory of rifle shooting in the area and discipline involved, followed by time spent in the field simulating lamping situations.
Tower Bird TrophyÂ
The trophies themselves are named in memory of the late Noel M (Tim) Sedgewick, the former editor-in-chief of The Shooting Times and Country Magazine.
