Mike Thornley is one of BASC North’s regional officers and osprey monitor. He has worked and advised in raptor conservation for over 30 years. Previously employed by the Forestry Commission, he has worked closely with goshawks, red kites and honey buzzards and has worked with ospreys for the past 15 years.
The South-lakes birds have had a good year having returned from Africa late March, they were quick to settle onto their nest sites, these birds are generally site faithful this helps with looking after them.
