An Antiques Roadshow-style event in County Armagh attracted a large number of people who brought firearms and memorabilia of historic interest to be valued by firearms expert Bill Harriman last weekend.

Bill, who is also director of firearms for the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, was on hand to give advice on all aspects of firearms during the roadshow at Lisnalea Rod & Gun Club in Markethill.

Visitors to the roadshow brought in items ranging from some ordinary pieces with fascinating local stories to some exquisite and truly exceptional pieces. These included a shotgun by Joseph Manton in mint condition and a fascinating brass contraption by Bussey for launching artificial targets – the forerunner of the clay trap.
